Hello everyone, sorry that i was not the most prompt with this blog post but what can you do... things get busy you know.. well another week has flown by and i'm sitting here trying to think of everything we did... we had two speakers last week and our first one had some heart troubles so he wasn't able to come so it started off the week kind of on a weird note, but on the upside of that we go to go to the beach for a long time and have a BBQ on monday and i hung out with some NZ kids there and threw a rugby ball around with them, and also taught them how to play some real american football.. they laughed at me when i first threw the rugby ball, but by the end of it i was showing them how to throw the rugby ball! its really starting to get warmer here so the beach is much more fun and laying out in the sun is becoming another activity of ours... not too bad i'd say... we also watched dead poets society on the projecter in our lecture hall because we were speakerless so i wasn't complaining too much CARPE DIEM.. on wednesday our other speaker came, he was alright... he had some good things to say and he was funny but he wasn't exactly what i was looking for to hear but oh well i geuss... now comes one of the high lights of my week, on thursday a group of us got to go help out one of farmer friends dock tails off of lambs, there was a bunch of us, so a few of us got to ride on top of his land rover (african safari style) across his very vast amounts of land to a paddock containing the lambs... there we captured the poor helpless little animals, cut their tails off, gave them a shot, and clipped their ears... it was an eye opening and truly enlightening expeirence... a little bloody, and poopy (literally) but still really cool. i thoroughly enjoyed it... then after we got to hike to this huuuugeeeee Kauri tree (it took about 8 people to fit around) it was awesome, the farmer (who is the guy who looks like brad pitt/robert redford) said it was probably around 1500 to 2000 years old... it was definately cool.. on friday we went to town shopped and hung out and drank coffee and other hip cafe style drinks at this quaint little cafe it was very enjoyable... saturday morning me and isaac biked into another town, which by the way is no easy task in new zealand when taking into consideration the enormous hills, and poor quality of the bikes... but we made it, alive, kind of... but we had the most amazing breakfast which totally made it worth it, 2 eggs over easy, 4 peices of french toast, and 4 huge slabs of bacon all for $7.50... it was the perfect way to start off our saturday, which had a much more laid back pace than our previous weekends but it wasn't too bad... also considering we got our hands on an Xbox 360 and Halo 3, it was really cool... and the all-blacks had another game against romania in which the all-blacks destroyed their meager opponents... it was awesome... well i'm writing too much and no one likes to read long rambling articles, trust me i know how it goes... but ya this week should be great too, we're going hiking and kayaking up north on saturday so i'm way excited... hope life in MN is great... oh by the way i just found out that at the end of november i'm going to India for 2 months, i'm pumped! calcutta and new dehli here i come... alright see you all later
