As i sit here and debate about what i want to type to fill you all in as much as i can, without boring you and trying to be as interesting and "korey" like as possible one word comes to my mind, crazy. Last week was a crazy week, with lectures and the weekend and everything that i experienced and learned it was truly a week of growth! I've been having some requests as of late for more insite on what i'm actually doing here so here it goes... each week we have someone that comes and lectures us on a different topic such as the Father heart of God and Identity in Christ, and a whole lot in between.... within this we have one on ones with a leader and also small group times to just talk and hang out and do manly things for my group a lot of the time! The last few weeks we've had speakers who have really challenged to grow and change in our own lives and our relationships with others and God... it has been a really good time of growth for me as well as discovery of who i am and what God has for my life, its definately been really cool! Religion and Christianity to me, throughout most of my life, had just been something that i always just did, because thats just what i did... it was never something deeper, something with meaning, and heart and that gave satisfaction and purpose... i'm slowly discovering what that is all about which is cool! Alright so now on to last week specifically. The first 7 weeks i was here i was on a "work program" team that was known as the X-Team, basically two times a week we just did whatever we were needed to do around the base or on farms (ie Lamb tail docking) in the area, which was awesome and i totally loved getting out and meeting local farmers and doing weird and gross work like that, but last week i was moved to the lawn mowing team, which has a little flavor of home.. however i must saw our lawn team crew here has nothing on the CII crew and in fact it is a pitiful disply of lawn mowers and weed wippers, that break down every 20 minutes... david we need some SCAG mowers and ECHO weed wippers stat... no but i geuss we make it work... the week soared by like usual and because of the added anticipation of going to Wellington for the weekend... earlier in the school 7 other students and I purchased tickets to fly down to Wellington for this past weekend.... it turned out to be an amazing weekend... on friday 5 of us had to bum a ride from staff (the other 3 had to catch a bus) to the airport in Auckland... basically it was one of the more nerveracking experiences because by the time we got going and the traffic in auckland we got to the airport about a half hour before we needed to leave! Fortunately there were only two of us with an earlier flight, Isaac and I, so we were able to get through everything and get on the plane! the rest had to wait around for a while... so me and isaac got to wellington a few hours before everyone else and we got some huge american style bacon cheeseburgers (that were fantastic) at a place similar to famous daves, the whole time of which i tried to not look at the TV screens because they were showing ESPN and all the world series high lights they good... i luckily dind't see anything.... the rest joined up with us and we hung around the city... the next morning we got up for breakfast then caught the bus to a new art gallery that had a huge exhibit on the making of the new king kong movie (wellington is also known and "wellywood" because of all the movies made there, WETA is also located in wellington) it was one of the coolest exhibits ever, it had real movie props, story boards, miniatures, models and tons of other things used in and for the movie... i loved it! that night we went out for coffee and then went to this local club to watch 3 new zealand bands play! it was really fun and the bands were all really good and fun to watch! the next morning i got up earlier to go for a walk and to find a place for all 8 of us to eat breakfast for cheap (thats the Tim Leafblad coming out in me)... i was walking downtown and passed by The Opera House that had a sign pointing in that said Arise church, so i went back to the hostel and got some of the guys to come with me to church which turned out to be AWESOME, we had a free concert from the lead guitarist of the Newsboys and we also heard The Parachute Band play (some new and upcoming band i geuss) which was awesome... that day we went to the huge Te Papa museum which is the national museum of New Zealand... i could of spent days inthere, it was an incredible museum with unbelievable variety and plenty to learn (my favorite was acutally the top level which was all local NZ art, it was really cool) that night there was a huge conference going on in Wellingon where the Newsboys were playing and also the Katinas (some of you may not know these names but that is all good), so we got to go to another free concert which was awesome! after that we went to this local cafe that has live Jazz music every sunday night which ended up also being AWESOME... so basically we had an art and music filled weekend which was amazing and totally hit the spot of what i was looking for in wellington which is not only the capital of NZ but also the cultural capital of the country, as you can see from all the art and music! it was awesome just all the things we were able to do in just a few days there... and it was never ceasing to surprise us! Alright i'll just leave you with this one story, so when me and isaac were exploring the town on friday night before everyone else got to town, we wandered into the wrong part of town (we new pretty much nothing about the town before we got there) ... in new zealand prostitution is legal, so i think you guys can put the two and two together... needless to say we were frightened by whatever it was that looked our way, it was interesting!... i felt a little like john and mic! ha alright well i hope all is well in MN... happy halloween, i'm sad i'm missing halloween this year, first year EVER! missing a lot of major holidays, kinda weird? but i geuss oh well alright hope you all have a wonderful week korey
