Wow i cannot believe this week is over. Sorry i didnt write anything this week but i got way to busy and couldn't find the time... man we have had the longest and craziest day ever... I'll talk about today cuz a lot went on, we got up to get ready to go caving then started to head out, we met up with our caving guide and she started leading us to the caves in her car, and we were following behind in our van.. we were coming up on a corner and an SUV was coming from the other way around the corner so neither of the cars could see each other... on new zealand roads most people drive fast and they're mostly gravel, so this was just a recipe for disaster, our guides car swerved out of the way and the other SUV swerved too, locked up his brakes and ended up sliding off the cliff and rolled over into the woods... we were driving behind and witnessed all of this happen, it was really surreal and all slow motion to watch.. we slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car, me and another leader raced down the hill in the mud to help out the people in the car.. it ended up being about a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl and their dad.. we got them out of the car and helped them back up the hill, luckily no one was seriously hurt, but it was seriously a scary experience for everyone... the kids were really shaken up but everything was okay... needless to say it was a crazy way to start off the day... from there we went to go caving which was one of the coolest and intense experiences of my life... we started out in the cave crawling on our bellies through freezing cold water for about 20 or 25 meters... the ceiling was about only a foot or so high.. it was not meant for those who feel claustrophobic but it was totally awesome... we started making our way through the cave for about 3 hours, sometimes crawling, sometimes walking sometimes swimming, sometimes going underneath rock with no air at all completely submerged... It was AWESOME climbing through and down cave rivers and waterfalls... In new zealand caves they have these things called glow worms that when you turn off your headlamps they light up the pitch black cave like stars in a night sky... it was unbelievable beautiful walking through the cave who knows how far under the earth and it looking like the clearest night sky.... caving was amazing! Now back to the week, we had an awesome week, it seirously flew by.. i can't even explain it, we did a bunch of hiking and exploring new zealand... one of my highlights of the week tho was hunting possums... a group of us guys went out with a local guy who was mr. outdoorsman who looked like a hollywood star... he was totally awesome, and drove a SWEET 78 land rover... he knew everything about everything when it came to the outdoors.. possums are a pest in new zealand and breed like rabbits so they're trying to get rid of them, we killed 21 possums that night... ha it was fun! There is so much to say about this week i shouldn't leave it to just one post a week, but this week classes started as well.. they were good and really challenging to me... i learned a lot and have been talking to people a lot about areas of growth and change i need in my life and sorts of stuff... i was really inspired this week by the beauty of new zealand, its unbelievable how beautiful it is everyday here no matter what the weather... Well i'm gonna head out for now, but i hope you guys enjoy the new pictures... i dunno if this post made a whole lot of sense but i'm not gonna proof read cuz its too long! enjoy, hope all is well at home and i'd just liek you guys to know while it gets colder at home it is just becoming summer and warmer every day here! just thought you guys should know! hope all is well... go vikes, go CUBBIES, go royals.... i'm outtie
