你好,
Today is my 18th birthday!!
Can't believe how fast this year has gone, I definitely don't feel 18! Had a lovely start to the day with a Skype call from my family and I opened the two parcels they had sent me which included thermals and socks, cadbury's chocolate freddos, a chocolate cake and birthday cards :) Lucie had also made me card and gotten me a Jade Buddha necklace, which is absolutely lovely.
A normal day of teaching today, first class at 10 past 9, then Mandarin with Lan Laoshi (we were taught how to say Happy Birthday in Chinese). For lunch Lucie and I headed to the 'fast food place' which is opposite the supermarket just down the road from us - a treat for my birthday. When I went back to school to teach in the afternoon, Ivy informed me that some of the Senior 1 English teachers, and some of the other staff would be taking Lucie and myself out for a banquet for dinner to celebrate my birthday!
The banquet was lovely. Ivy took us to a restaurant just opposite the school and there was about 16 teachers plus us. Lucie and I were both given these 'Rechargeable Water Bag' things... basically they're hot water bottles but instead of boiling a kettle and filling them, you plug them into wall to heat them up. I was also given a huge box of Ferrero Rocher which the teachers had ordered from Hong Kong! I couldn't believe it, I absolutely adore Ferrero Rocher, and I'm pretty sure I've never mentioned it since being out here.
After the main dishes - which there were so many of, and so delicious! - the teachers brought out this absolutely massive chocolate mousse cake!! It was decorated with loads of different fruit and chocolate. They put 9 candles on it (1 for every 2 years) and sang Happy Birthday (in English :D!) and then I had to cut up and serve the cake to everyone.
I was absolutely spoilt and I can't believe how lovely all the teachers were - I wasn't expecting to do anything really for my birthday except the 'fast food place,' so I have had an absolutely amazing day.
Can't believe it's over,
Until tomorrow,
再见 x
