你好,
Today has been a very interesting day.
We were met by our calligraphy teacher, Ben, and his Sunday English Club pupils, and their parents at 7am. First they took us for a breakfast of noodles, dumplings and mushrooms (now I would normally class that as a lunch but... this is China...). We then got into one of the parent's car's and they took us to a temple in the mountains about half an hour outside of Yihuang (Ivy later informed me she was born there).
The views were absolutely amazing and the temple itself was lovely. We then climbed 'The Seven Mountains' - up and down, up and down, and we climbed some of the scariest staircases we have ever seen, they were almost vertical! More stunning views so plenty of pictures were taken. (I'll get them up soon, I promise!)
After this Ben announced to us that we would go fishing and have a barbecue - it was only half 10 but Lucie and I assumed the barbecue was to be lunch (You'll have guessed from the 'assumed' that we were wrong...). The barbecue was really nice - sausages, chicken and pork skewers, fish that was caught in the pond, along with oranges and pears and bananas. As we packed up one of the ladies mentioned something about lunch, it was just around noon, and Lucie and I looked at each other, confused. So we went over to ask Ben and he said, "Oh yes, we are going for lunch now." We were already stuffed!
We went to this restaurant in a tiny village just at the bottom of the mountain and it was really lovely. The kids sat through in a separate room and had their own selection of dishes (and lemonade), and we sat with the adults and had a slightly larger selection of food (with tea or beer). When we finished, we were so full we felt like we could roll out of that place! We were relieved to hear Ben say that we would be going home then.
When we got back to the house it was only 2pm but I absolutely crashed, and the next thing I knew it was 7pm! And I still had my lesson for this week to plan!
Now that is done, so I should probably head to be now,
Until tomorrow (my birthday!!),
再见 x
