ok so this is really late but um 2 weeks ago, AIFS went to Venize for Carnavale. Which I recommend that everyone see at least once in their lives....if only on tv:) We left thursday night at 10pm and arrived in Venize around 730am friday morning. I've decided that I never want to travel by bus again. It was a very long bus ride. If you haven't noticed by the pictures yet, we spent one entire day not being on the actual Venize isle. See the city of Venize is actually made up of a lot of smaller isles, that may actually be their own cities....I'm not really sure. All I know is, that if you are on the farthest isle around 530pm...it'll take you until around 830/900pm to get to the other side of Venice. It was pretty bad. You travel everywhere by ferry, which is good and bad. I can finally say I've been on the water, but well, ferries(or vaperettos) are the SLOWEST things on the planet. Ok back to the trip. Friday, Kate, Emily and I spent the day traveling the outer regions of Venice. We went to Burano, the isle of lace. It was gorgeous, because all the houses are painted in different bright colors. We bought some handmade lace, ate lunch and wandered around the isle. We then went to Murano, which is another isle, where they make glass. So once again, we wandered around, bought some handmade glass and then decided to turn around and go home. Which is when We found out it takes 3 hours to get across Venize. Our group was housed on the isle of Lido, which is a 10/15 minute vaperetto ride from the actual isle of Venice. Lido was pretty....had some interesting buildings and restaurants, but that was about it. Saturday and Sunday was spent actually in Venice. And let me tell you, the city is bigger than it looks. And could prove difficult to get around. But because sometime in my short life, my parents had mapquest installed in my brain, getting around for Kate and I was a breeze. Dont ask how I do it. I just know I can do it. Venice would have been easier to see if there had been less people, but without all the cheer of carnavale, I dont think I'd like Venize. I dont like it anyway, but i would have liked it less. Sunday was the actual start of Carnavale, and yes I wore a mask. I bought in on Burano. I saw the Angel drop, the parade of Costumes and yes I drank a Bellini. So that was about Venize. Oh yeah, then we attempted to leave Venize at 10pm Sunday night so we would be back in time for 830 class on Monday, but through a series of unfortunate events....people being left behind, the bus breaking down....We were in Venize until 3 am and managed to miss every class that I have on Monday. It was awful, but at least I wasn't a zombie in class like I thought!
LOVE ALWAYS!
