Kari goes to Lincoln, England
I had radio workshop at 11am and my group just worked out our idea for our experimental radio piece where we are going to do a modern day musical interpretation of Romeo & Juliet with quotes and sounds and music. After seminar I had to hurry to meet Charlotte and Sue at 2.05 to get a ride to the stables for my first horse riding lesson. I was so excited. We got there and there is a little waiting area that is so cute. Sorry I didn't take a picture. I will next time. There is this sweet lady who asks if you want tea or juice or coffee and there is also fruit and cake and stuff. We sit there drinking our tea and chatting until it is time for the lesson. The instructor James Scott was really sarcastic and funny. I hadn't said that much to him and he says "I am dying to know where your are from. I am going to say Minnesota." What? I didn't believe that the girls hadn't told him. I can't remember how many of them heard me say on Monday that I was from Minnesota. I don't think he is that good of a guesser though. My horses name was Zara, she was pretty. Sue and I had our lesson at the same time. We did a bunch of different things. We walked around the circle, wove around barrels, trotted etc. It was a new experience. A European saddle is a lot different from a western saddle and it's a little different when trotting. I had a really good time apart from the fact that my hands were blue at the end of the hour. I really enjoyed it and wish I could go every week but it is kind of expensive and besides I will be in Rome next week anyway. I think I am only going to go every third week or something. It was a good experience though. Afterwards we had to have tea again. I forget what they call the lady but she calls everyone love. Its precious. I think we sat there for about an hour after the lesson. They all ride every week and know James really well. It was a big gossip session. They were teasing Sue about this one guy and James knew who they were talking about. I enjoyed sitting there listening, but all of a sudden I was really tired and wanted to go. I was cold. I had some tea and took a nap when I got home and was supposed to go out but just wasn't feeling up to it. I really wanted to go out for Viv's birthday the next night so I stayed in.
