Kari goes to Lincoln, England
I woke up around 9am because I had to meet Bryan at 10 to get the phone numbers of my group for the Radio R&D thing. As I was sitting there talking to him, the guy in the group Chris walked around the corner. I walked with him and the two girls of the group called him and said they wanted to meet me at 12pm at the library. I went with them to the school because they had to drop a letter off to send home to the parents to get permission to be a part of the after school radio program that I am helping with. After that they came with me to sort out my mobile phone problems. The phone that I had gotten was a piece of crap but if I returned it I would lose the money that I had put on the top up card (the pay as you go card) the lady at the one store turned out to be a pain. I went to the other phones for u store and the guy was really helpful - he understood that I didn't want to exchange my phone for one at their store. I didn't like the one that I had and didn't want to pay a ton of money for a phone. I had found one I like at the orange store (this is a company like verizon). The phones here have SIM cards and I got a pay as you go phone and the money is stored on the SIM card. The guy at the store tried to figure out if I could keep the sim card, but I couldn't because it had to be returned with the phone. You see even though I got my phone at a phones for U store, it was still under the Orange network. So this really nice guy figured out that I could go and purchase a phone at the orange store, get my value transferred from the old phone and then come back and return it. Complicated but it works. There was this complication that I couldn't transfer the money right away because I hadn't registered my old phone yet, so I walked home and was there for about a half hour and then had to walk back to the orange store. And then it was raining - my first English rain. But it was kind of a nice rain. I finally got everything sorted and had been working on it since around 1 walking up and down high street cuz the stores are not close to each other. After I got everything sorted and was going to return my first phone, I could have gone to the phones for U across from the orange store. But I had gotten so fed up there earlier and Jennie had even yelled at them that it was worth walking another 5 minutes down high street. After all this it was 5PM and I had been dealing with this since about 12:30. ICK but its all over and done now. I was really cold after this and just hung out in my room. I hadn't hung out with Ben yet so I called him to see what he was up to. Ben is a student here at Lincoln who was at MSUM this past fall. Ben and I decided to meet at the Shed at 8:30. I hadn't eaten yet and had no food at all. So I had to go to the grocery store. Its called Morrison's. I went there last Friday and only had bought a few essentials to last me until me my cards got here. I got sick of that stuff real fast. This was a more fun trip because one I knew more of what I wanted to buy and two I didn't have to save my money. So I bought more exciting stuff this time. It really sucks walking back carrying your groceries though - it's not a far walk except when your bags are heavy and its kind of cold out and your hands start to get numb. I got back and had to hurry and eat fast because I didn't have much time to spare before I had to meet Ben. He bought me a beer when I got there, how sweet. It was called Fosters, I think it's his favorite, I told him to pick something for me because I am all about trying new things. Jason was also there and we talked to him for a while. I hadn't talked to Jason in a while so it was nice to catch up. When I left the Shed it was 11 and I was kind of tired because the night before I had only gotten three hours of sleep. I was on the Internet for a while talking to some of my friends and I think it was almost 3 by the time I went to bed.
