Today Vero had the day off and had offered to take me into the city to change some Chilean pesos into $$$ and to pick up a tent a friend of mine had left at a hostel for me. It was another beautiful day in Santiago - the weather here is truly glorious and helps keep the people smiling. After picking up the tent and changing my money Vero headed off Christmas shopping whilst I went to find a photo printing shop. I had a nice photo of myself, three other Couchsurfers, Kelly and Veronica blown up and put in a frame to say Thankyou for their wonderful hospitality. I met back up with Vero and she still hadn't managed to buy any presents so I decided to catch the Metro back out to their place. On the way I stopped at Turbus and brought my bus ticket for Valparaiso tomorrow and priced up a ticket to Mendoza. The weather was steaming hot by this time so I walked back to the house and relaxed a bit before packing a few things and working out what I will be leaving here: as I have far too many things I will leave at the house in the hope other Couchsurfers might be able to use. For dinner cooked up an amazing feast of chickpea, Choclo, haba, spinach and spring onion soup with a fresh garden salad and to was it down a very good Chilean Chargua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I gave Kelly and Vero the framed photo of us all and a couple of other gifts - a poncho and a guidebook for Patagonia, I think they were a little shocked by all the gifts and this made me even happier as they had done so much for me and it was the least I could do.
