I was up early this morning to say Thankyou and goodbye to Kelly as she had to be off for work at 7am. In the morning I packed the last of my things, worked out what I was leaving and said goodbye to Vero. After a quick lunch I was just about to head to catch my bus when I got a Facebook message from my host in Valparaiso saying not to come today as all the water was out. It was to late though I had already brought my ticket and 2 hours warning was not enough time to try refund my ticket or find somewhere else to stay - I have a tent now of worst comes to worst. I made my way towards the Metro and managed to hop on a bus (without a bus card) saving myself a 30 minute walk with all my stuff. I caught one train and then had to switch to another which proved to be a nightmare and only after stumbling around lost for 20 minutes did I figure out where I needed to go and at this point I was seriously running out of time. I ended up arriving at the station with a good 30 minutes to spare so I went to the Turbus office and had another look at tickets for my trip to Mendoza after Christmas. The bus trip to Valparaiso was very quick and luckily my host Alamendra was there waiting for me. As the water was going to be out for a few days she had organized for us to go to her friends house in Vina del Mar (a small city just 20 minutes North of Valparaiso). And this is the point i discover that Almendra speaks no english (this will be good for my Spanish), we caught a bus up to Vina del Mar and then headed for the shopping mall so Almendra could buy some new shoes. We then headed to the supermarket and brought some food to make dinner for ourselfs and our hosts tonight - Almendra started to worry me when she put 3 bottles in the shopping trolley and then asked if we needed more haha. We then walked to Almendras friends place where we would be staying for the night - they were two French guys both with the name Emerick and very cook guys. They welcomed us into their home and we opened the first bottle of wine; the both of them are French teachers here and have been living here for over a year. For dinner Almendra made a vegetable ratatouille whilst I made a garden salad and opened a few tins of tuna. With good local wine, delicious food and good company we were in for a good night - however I did struggle a bit with communicating as the only languages being spoken were Spanish and French. I ate too much and drank too much but for the first time in a long time I felt tired and ready for a good nights sleep.
