Even after such a late night I struggled to sleep past 6:30am and found myself wide awake by 7am trying to plan the next couple of weeks of travel through Chile - now that I have decided to change my original plan. Lorena and her friend were asleep on the couch and looked like they had just arrived home so I went for a bit of a wonder. Unfortunately the weather was once again overcast and rainy so I was eager to rush off to the beach like we had planned. I wondered around and sat in a nice park for a while writing my blog before heading back to the house for some lunch. After a chat with Lorena and her friend I decided to go for a big walk around the hills and Bay Area of the city and see some of the famous graffiti art and funicular cable cars. Luckily the weather had improved slightly and as it was Sunday the streets were quite dead which was a nice change. I wondered around observing the old buildings, the vibrant colours and all the little boutiques, bars and shops. I arrived at the wharf where they were offering short Boat tours of the bay for about $6.50 so thinking I hadn't done a tour in a little while I decided to go for it. I had to wait in line for nearly an hour and by the time we boarded the little tug boat I had; had enough. They crammed about 50 of us on these tiny bench seats and just my luck I was surrounded by 3 very overweight men who had me crammed up like sardines in a tin. So unfortunately I didn't enjoy the tour too much, the views were beautiful though and I got to see some sea lions and dolphins along with some ginormous sea birds dive bombing schools of fish. The tour lasted just over 30 minutes and the guide spoke only very bad Spanish so I didn't understand anything. After the tour I made my way back to Lorena's where I helped her setup an Airbnb account before making some dinner for the both of us. It was late by the time I finally headed to bed and I have decided that the few days here in Valparaiso has been enough and I will go somewhere different for New Years Eve.
