Day 27
Last day in Anchorage! Spent most of the morning packing but had some tasty crepes with fresh berries for breakfast. When I finished packing Bryan Josh and I went down to the Ulu factory (a native knife that the eskimos have used for everything since the stone age) and got a knife for the family and a few more stickers for the computer. On the way back Bryan stopped at a Celtic store to try and find a kilt so he could play (snare) in Saturday's Scottish Games in Anchorage. The store had many of the exact same souvenirs we saw all over Ireland which was kind of funny. Came back to the house and met Bonnie. We finished packing my stuff (the bags are absolutely crammed full, I guess taking Bryan's old steering wheel doesn't help) and wrapped up the sculpture I got in a whole bunch of bubble wrap, paper, and two boxes, and we departed. The airport has a seaplane airport attached which was pretty much just a lake with hangers around it but I thought that was cool. It cost $125 to check my third bag but other than that it check in was easy, goodbye's are always hard, but I'm going home! The airport is nice and there are a lot of seats on the plane so this should be easy. Next entry from home!
Breakfast: Crepes and Berries
Lunch: Guacamole Bacon Burger from Carl Jr. surprisingly really really good.
Dinner: Plane food yummm…
And so the story from 11641 Rainbow Avenue ended.
...or so I thought. Turns out this is prime fishing season so the weight limit was reached due to freight even though there were about forty open seats so no stand-by passengers were allowed on. So I walked back to the baggage claim to get my checked bags and figure out what to do next. They had the world record halibut hanging on the wall, it was like 9 feet long, pretty crazy. Anyway at the ticket counter I had two options, there was a direct flight to Atlanta at 7:30 tomorrow, but the lady said there would be the possibility of reaching the weight limit again, and then there was a 1:05 flight to Salt Lake City then take a connector to ATL. Called Mom and she thought it'd be best to go to SLC… so I'm going back to Salt Lake. The Gonzales' thankfully picked me up so I'm currently sitting in the living room (a place I thought I'd never be again) and there are going to drop me off again at 11 local time… hopefully this one will work out.
Dinner: The Gonzales' already ate so I'm making me some PB&J's
