Day 18
First day of trip part deaux. Woke up at about 9 to the parents talking in the kitchen (open to the living room where we were sleeping showered and hung around till they got back from running some errands so we could go get breakfast. The land lord wanted to come over though so breakfast was delayed to about 1 (which was almost unbearable). Learned some random stuff about the house though, it is owned by the PR guy of some famous cartoonist and they moved to Lake Tahoe to be closer to newspapers and the big amusement parks for their 3 kids. Behind the nice fenced in yard apparently two of their neighbors have horses (about 10 minutes from Anchorage city center) and there is a really nifty tree house/platform in the backyard that i climbed up to (I've always wanted one). When the man finally left we went to a local place that served breakfast all day (thankfully!) and I had a really good breakfast with interesting local flair. The four of us drove over to Lowe's afterwards and they bought a new washer and dryer to be delivered on Tuesday I think. On the way there we were on a one way four lane street that had an intersection with another one way street, anyway what made it noteworthy was the intersection had six green lights for our four lanes and none of them were turn signals, the entire intersection glowed. Josh and I went to go see Land of the Lost which was characteristically Will Ferrel type comedy but it was really neat seeing Charlotte from Pushing Daisies in it. Got picked up at the quite nice theater and we all went to the "Hacienda" which tasted like any of the other millions of similar mexican restaurants in the country (aka nothing special). Drove around Anchorage for a while afterwards and saw some cool things like the probably 2 or 3 hundred yards of beach from low tide a musk ox store and this massive mountain on the other side of the bay called Sleeping Woman or something like that but apparently looks like a sleeping woman (looked more like a sleeping man to me). Bryan picked a random road to drive down and said "Oh wait honey this is where we saw our first moose) 50 feet further we saw a young bull moose grazing in the parking lot of a Russian Orthodox Church… the one time out of 18 days I didn't have my camera in arms reach there was a moose in somewhat arms reach (albeit a very lanky person that is the butt of many jokes... but arms reach nonetheless). On the way back to the house we passed a BMW dealership that had a new Z4 at it (first one Ive seen in the... steel) and I have to admit I don't loathe it as much as I thought I would from the pictures. Big move in day tomorrow, that will be chaotic… but Bonnie's car gets here then and Josh and I have started planning things we must do before we leave, hopefully lots of exciting days! So seeing the amount of light currently outside, I will wish you all (inspired by the words of the great Douglas Adams) a good time that looks almost, but not quite, entirely unlike night.
