Weds. 14th OctoberFirst stop today was Ulverston a town of cheap cafes, op shops and a very ugly clock tower built for some reason round the war memorial a depressing place. Next Penguin with its giant concrete penguin and penguin litter bins.I think it was here where in the toilet a notice read unlock door when leaving.??Burnie had cheese tasting,a hand made paper factory which was closed and a penguin information centre which we couldn't find.I think its fair to say we wasn't doing well but things improved when we found fossil beach and did find pieces of rock with fossil shells in them but we were good tourists and left them on the beach as the notice board told us to.The weather improved and we found another tulip farm. The festival had been last week but the fields were still open and we got better photos than last time.Boat Harbour beach is a delight with pure white sand and a pale blue sea.We arrived in Stanley about 6pm and had a bit of trouble getting a motel room well one at a price we were willing to pay. There are only 2 motels and we are in the one just out of town. The restaurant here is a bit expensive so we drove into town and ate at the Stanley Hotel which was reasonable and very good.If you are ever in Stanley we recommend it.Tomorrow the delights of Stanley and back to Devonport for the ferry at teatime. We won't be able to do the blog for a few nights tomorrow we shall be on the ferry and over the weekend we shall be with friends in Mildura where we hope it will be a bit warmer.
