Sat 3rd Oct. in Tasmania Friday was quite eventful we did really well packing up but the house owners had said leave the keys on the table and the door will lock when closed.I said to Joe "we are bound to leave something and it will be something crucial" and we did and it was, my handbag containing the tickets to Tasmania and all the usual ,phone, money ….Both neighbors have keys but neither were home.Luckily we had a mobile number for one of them and she came back to let us in.The ferry sails at 7.30pm so we went to St Kilda which is the suburb of Melbourne and it was perishing cold.We did the obligatory and had cake and coffee in a Greek café in Acland St. Do you know I can hear the sharp intake of breath and tutting from here but we did have 2 brisk walks they had to be brisk it was so cold.In St Kilda is an enormous ugly building which in 1927 was the largest cinema in the world, it held 3000 now it stages live shows. We went to the far end of the pier to see the fairy penguins who live on the causeway but even they didn't venture out. The sailing was all right just a bit of rock and roll in the middle of the night but we didn't get much sleep and have decided to have a cabin going back. By 7am we were off the boat and on our way to Launceston. It has been a long day.We spent the afternoon at Cataract Gorge which virtually goes up from the centre of town. The sky was blue today and it felt quite warm at times but it was only 17 degrees.Usually we stay in motels but for the two nights we are here we have treated our selves to ahotel and we get breakfast now that will be a change from jam butties. My spell check doesn't understand butties and is suggesting some really odd words..Tonight the clocks go forward so we shall be losing another hours sleep.
