Tues. 6th Oct.Today was 8 degrees below the average temperature for the beginning of 0ct. and boy did we know it.It was raining so we abandoned the idea of trying to get a better view of the Bay of Fires and headed south to Freycinet National Park and the world famous wineglass bay.We knew we wouldn't actually see wineglass bay because it is a long steep walk to get the view you see on postcards and holiday program's and we are not up to it but we did a walk along a very windy and cold boardwalk and the view was spectacular and a glimpse of wineglass bay in the distance. If it had been summer or even just a bit warmer we would have taken a cruise or a scenic flight but it was far to cold and squally for either. We drove into Coles bay but there is nothing really to see except the controversial new toilet block they are building for the tourists who flock there for the view which the new toilets will more or less obscure.Lot of fuss about that. The weather improved as we cut inland to the Central highway and Ross a charming unspoilt settlement which has the site of a female convict prison, a bridge built by convicts, and a good number of original buildings.Tomorrow we head for Hobart stopping on the way at Richmond which is like Ross but on a bigger scale.
