Tuesday 13th Oct.Today we went to see the world famous, must see, do not miss Cradle Mountain, we went but didn't see it because it rained and rained. When the mountain cleared a bit the rain was heavy and when the rain stopped or eased the mountain disappeared the two didn't seem to be able to get it together. The management of the national park is very good and in the summer you have to park a bout 8ks away and take a shuttle bus but today we drove right down to Lake Dove which is in front of the mountain and has wonderful reflections sometimes but not today. We got wet taking photos, sat in the car drinking our hot drinks from the flask, gave up and bought a postcard. We had started out early intending to walk around Dove Lake, braver souls than us were doing it but no thanks.Setting out so early meant we had left the park by 12.30 and we struggled to find something dry to do.We had wanted to walk around Sheffield to see the murals and Joe did venture away from the car to take a few photos and then even he suggested we go in the bakery for a hot drink and cake.
The guide book suggested The Axe mans Hall of Fame at Latrobe and we went out of desperation for something to do out of the rain but it is quite interesting and we spent an hour there. We also stopped at a viewpoint and took photos of a dam and big water pipes coming down a hillside.I know I promised no more hydro electrics but when the blog pickings are lean I get desperate and promises are broken. We are in Devonport tonight and will travel west along the north coast to Stanley tomorrow.
