Thurs. 1st Oct. Finally we got to the William Ricketts Sanctuary on Mount Dandenong it was our fourth attempt and we were determined to go there rain or whatever but it was nice, cold 13 degrees but dry and it was worth the wait. An amazing sometimes weird place which is difficult to describe so look it up on the net. There is a video they show at the property in which William Rickett explains his life and reason for creating this extraordinary garden/gallery. Basically he spent his life trying to be at one with God and nature, in one scene he dances with a lyre bird dressed in a brightly coloured robe that's William not the bird. The bird is extraordinary too. He also wanted to be accepted as a brother aboriginal which is why most of the statues are of aboriginals.
We had a lovely lunch at the café set in the forest and watched white cockatoos and brightly coloured parrots feeding right by the window. Priceless. We then dashed down the other side of the Mornington Peninsula from where we was last week to Cape Schank where there is a lighthouse and national park but can't tell you much about it because everything was closed. Tomorrow night we sail to Tasmania and the forecast isn't good so we have bought our travel sickness pills.
