Saturday 19th Sept.We have arrived at our house swap and is very nice and very big we shall get our daily exercise walking from one end to the other. It is wet and cold but we won't be bored with a massive library of DVDs and a snooker/pool table to keep us amused.Tomorrow we are going to Melbourne to visit Joe's niece (Lesley and Gary) who we haven't seen for years. The journey yesterday was a mix of good and disappointing. We drove round Jevis bay which is beautiful and visited a National trust village (Central Tilda) which was worth a visit but Eden which was the last whaling station in NSW to close and which always looks good on the travel programs only opens the museum and whaling station site during school holidays which only began today..
We stayed the night at Lakes Entrance and when we got out of the car at 4pm it was 14 degrees so we bunkered down for the night. We set of early this morning and had an hours walk round the town and harbor and it is a beautiful place. An interesting thing was an avenue of chain saw wooden sculptures .After WW1 the townspeople planted 26 trees one for each of the men from the area killed in action but the trees began dropping their limbs in the 90s and were dangerous so the council had them cut down but left the stumps for this chain saw artist to create sculptures reflecting the time around WW1.
