After a lazy morning we checked out Bingil Bay and South Mission Beach. 14km of superb beach front surround by tall palm trees. In the afternoon/evening we had a couple glasses of wine and played pool with Martin (manager of the caravan park) and his friend Anjelique. Partied with them for a while and some other guy who builds pools. Was nice to hang out with the cruisey locals! Highlight today: the smell and feeling of being on holidays.

Around lunch time we finally got ourselves sorted and went to Mission Beach. Apparently this area is inhabited by the 'Cassowary' which is an endangered species. There are lots of signs along the road depicting what happens when a car v's the cassowary- very funny stuff! There is still a lot of 'Yasi' (cyclone) damage, especially along the beach front. Lots of fallen palms and trees that have their leaves stripped. The beach still remains a glorious aqua blu...

Went out for breakfast early this morning and them took to the Hwy and continued on our journey. Drove through the cyclone hit town of Cardwell which is slowly recovering. Lots of trees still lining the beaches and remain fallen throughout the town. Several damaged houses and sheds. It was sad and bought tears to our eyes (we were also listening to a sad DIDO song at the time...) At Ingham we bought lunch at a Pie shop (scallop pie & steak/kidney) and ate ...

Hung out doing as little as possible during the morning, then Amanda took us up to Castle Hill which overlooks Townsville. Ate Subway overlooking gorgeous Magnetic Island. It is bigger than expected and has around 2000 people that live their permanently! Townsville has a large army/air force base, so it was really cool to see fighter jets pinging across the sky above us. But very distracting when driving! We had the best fish n chips for dinner- Spanish Macke...

This morning I woke emotional (Jeffs 2yr anniversary) so had a little cry then got on with the day. Mowed the lawns, washed some walls and cleaned a few windows for Amanda as she is due to move out on Monday. Did a few errands in town, then came back and made a sensational lasagna for dinner. I miss not have workbench's, lots of ramekins and an oven to cook up a storm. Dessert was an assortment of chocolate bars (picnic, Tim tam, kit kat, snickers, peppermint ...
