Awesome beautiful weather today, hanging out for Shona and Janine to arrive this afternoon! Have booked the vehicular ferry to go 4wding on Fraser Island tomorrow, also have a gourmet breakfast and lunch feast (prawns, bacon, chicken, pineapples, bananas, scones and beer!). So happy to see the girls, had lots of beers and caught up. Wandered along the beach and had oysters, calamari and fish n chips for dinner. Early night as we need to get up at 5.30am to cat...

Went to the Maryborough markets this morning. They shut of two streets and packed it out with stalls selling tropical fruits, bakery goods,spices, german sausages and crafts. Very cool-especially the dragon fruits and custard apples! Drove to Hervey Bay and settled into our posh site (with ensuite) then went for a cycle along the foreshore. Received letters from Tarja and Jaymee (written on My Little Pony stationary-cute as!). Looking forward to seeing Janine ...

OMG had such a scary night....Started with a huge bang on the caravan followed by another 10minutes later (possibly the bike falling but still not convinced). Then at 3am Mel woke me up saying she heard a growl like a panther and thinking she in Africa. I heard it shortly afterwards and was suitably freaking out for the rest of the night. Packed up the van and went to the 4wd shop on our way out of town. Bought a tyre deflator gauge so that we can go 4wd on sand. After our little practice a few days ago I am confident we can do it! Set up camp in Wongi State Park about 24kms out of Maryborough. No one else here and we are in the middle of nowhere. It's the quietest spot that we have stopped at during the entire trip! Hmmm, a bit too quite..... Went for a 4wd bike ride in the forest, didn't see ...

Had some awesome thunder and rain last night but woke up to sunshine and warmth. Relaxed in bed reading then headed off to do our customary 'payday' errands in town (Including our McDonalds coffee and paper). Pumpkin curry and rice for dinner followed by an early nights reading. Highlight today: stepping out into the morning sun!
