We have the Cambodian Auditors in the office this week - |APV
At the end of the day the Consultant/manager of the team was talking to me about what I had done and my work experience.
He was keen to tell me about the expansion ideas of APV and that they are looking to recruit.
He asked me if I would like to go to Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia) to discuss things with the other Partner of the firm.
From the way he spoke it sounded like he is one of the Partners of the Fimr.
Due to the education in Cambodia it is very difficult to recruit staff and train them to the highest level. Many young auditors have a degree (some have masters) and that is all. Some firms try and get them through ACCA but as the degree is equivalent to our high school diploama and a masters is maybe a first year degree it can be difficult.
He was telling me that in Cambodia you need to have ACCA and 5 years experience to be a Partner of a firm.
I meet the criteria on paper which is why they would like to speak with me further. Obviously I know that I wouldnt want to jump into anything like that.
I dont want to ever become a partner. I feel that there is far to much pressure of signing off financial statements when working for one of the big four let alone a smaller international audit firm.
There is no harming in speaking with them further as this could be a good opportunity to work in an expanding firm and be a part of the management team in making this happpen.
But it is not something I was looking for as I dont even know what I want to do career wise going forward.
I realise that I need a job with pressure but also that I dont want to have a job where you are i the same place for too long.
I want a challenge and an ever changing environment (of course I would want to be a part of the change process)
Either way, great to know that there are opportunities and options whereever you are!
