Saturday. It was supposed to rain so I decided not to explore the temples alone but to have a wonder into town and the surrounding area. I walked 5 mins up the road and came to the Royal Gardens , Preah Ang Chen and Preah Ang Chom (Shrines) It is a very beautiful small garden with tall tall trees and monuments. Living at the top of the trees are hundreds of Bats. Large Bats. As i was in the gardens i was approched by a young lad who told me he was a tour guide. He tolde me about the gardens and the bas but then also about a school he was working n. He was looking for donations to his school. I made my apologis and excused myself. The previous donations were far to high.
I walked around a little more until I got lost and took a moto back to the hostel. I passed a Guesthouse called Rosy's which was recommended to me by Yvette ( A friend of Grandmas) and I have heard a number of good things about this Guesthouse. Namely that the rooms are fantastic and that they have the best Burger and chips :-)
Later on I met up with Rachel and saw her place. Rachel has been working at TLC for the last 3 months through OZ aid and will be in Cambodia for atleast 18 months. Due to her length of stay Rachel has opted to rent a house. It is beautiful!! It is a 10 minute ride or so outside of town and has its own community. Not only is the house beautiful Rachel is great! :-)
Saturday night I went to a quiz with Rachel, there was an ex-pat quiz night in town at a bar called under construction. There were about 18 ex-pats so it was nice to chat and get to know some of them, what they were doing in Cambodia, what brought them here etc.
I discover i love tthe cocktail Mai Tai :-)
After the quiz, we headed further into town to meet Joseph and Billy. Joseph is or was an intern at TLC but he left work on Friday and so there was a small gathering to say Good bye. Billy is the founder and Chairman of TLC, a great laugh and a good man! After a few cocktails and more drinks we headed to a bar to dance :-D
