Today has been slow.
I my working hours are 8am to 5pm. It was a long day as i was feeling pretty tired and finished what I needed to do quite early on then the next task was to plan and talk through the plan.
TLC work 8am to 5pm the holidays are 14.5days a year and putting the air con only happens when it is really really hot. There are however 36 public holidays a year.
The level of education within the charity is varied but one thing that shines through is their dedication and commitment to learn and excel at their job. They have a number of barriers to overcome and the people i have had the opportunity to work with so far have done so and thus managed to create a better standard of living.
They are still not paid a particularly good wage, say $400 per month and the price of items here really dont appear to be very chep?
I was working in the fnance office and spent most of my time looking at the financial statements and revewing the policies and procedures. I can see the work that has been put in over the last year has been brilliant with the organisation implementing every control the auditors recommended or at very least creating a sufficient alternative.
They are trying to make the system as robust and straight forward as possibole an with their dedication I know they will achieve it.
Today it has rained all day. Plean.... wet rain!
It is the rain that will soak you to the bone if you are outside for 3 seconds.
I accidently slept though my alarm waking at 7:20 so had to grab my breakdast to go and get a tuk tuk. The hostel gave me some bread and jam and a banana.
I ended up having the banana for breakfast and the jam and bread for lunch as it was to far to go out and get some food. I am going out for dinner tonight with Dragos, a guy I met crossing the Thailand Border on Sunday which will be nice.
As it was so quiet this afternoon I did spend some time looking at alternative Accomodation. I got it down to a choice of 3. 2 hotels and 1 B&B (opposite Bou Savy as it happens). But I need to decide what is most important to me?
I also spoke with Rachel as Volunteer from Australia about lodging with her as she has a really nice 3 bed apartment on the outskirts of town.
With Rachel I have all the facilities and comfort of a home for a good price.
In the B&B I am a little closer and will meet other travellers and volunteers.
I have a bike now so I am able to get around which is really handy however it is so hot It is troublesome.
I really hope I will aclimatise soon so riding a bike wont be such an issue, because right now - it is!
I have a lilac poncho to wear when it rains - I wore it tonight, looks awsome haha
I a tempted to buy a scooter to get around. But the roads are super dangerous - Im really not sure?
