Typical day in my life now. Get up at 6.30am to be at English school at 7.45am. Stay there until 12.45pm. If I have students (and that's a big if because I usually have 1 or none per class), I teach, otherwise I just sit in the teachers lounge. They have a special teaching method, which is good news for me, as I everything is prepared, I just need to read up on it the night before. After that I go and volunteer at an organization for education and learning for disadvantaged, mostly for children and women. Mainly, I do some typing. The rest of the time I teach the people in the office English. I stay there till 6 and then even come home and trudge away trying to communicate with my family in this weird Spanish / English mix language I now speak.
Interesting thing I discovered how shops work in Chile. Everything is behind the counter and the counter runs all along the side of the shop. You tell the sales person what you want and they retrieve it and pass it to a sales counter. I followed my said item, but no, don't pay here.. take your receipt to the back of the shop, pay, and then return to counter two to pick up item. All in all you get 3 receipts and deal with 3 sales assistants. Interesting. Maybe this is why there is no recession here. Everyone is working in shops.
