So, I made it. 2 delayed flights, thanks Aerolineas Argentinas plus annoying Kiwi (I ashamed to say) on the plane.. ¨you´re going to get hold up at gun point.. just give them what they want.. it´s not worth your life you know¨... yeah, I know.. thanks for the words of wisdom. Just because you spend your whole 4 weeks off a year in Brazil, does not make you a font of all knowledge about South America. And they didn´t have movies! arghh! I ended up sleeping the whole time anyways, annoying loser aside.
Day 1 was very productive. I got a Chilean cell phone, and, the whole of the store applauded me when I was left. Whether they were happy that they finally figured out what the hell I wanted or whether they were just happy to see me go, who knows? but I now have a Chilean cell phone and number. No idea how to use it or put credit on it.
Also looked at a few apartments. The one I liked the husband played a few songs on his Peruvian 4 string guitar. I was impressed. He also sang opera. The little 1 year old girl was so cute. All in all I want to live there, they were such a lovely couple and my spanish will improve greatly as they English was very limited. They had heard of Maori´s in NZ, in fact thats all they knew. They said, we say ït¨Ma-oorr-eee¨- I felt like saying, ¨thats not how we say it and I´m from NZ, but¨alas I bit my tongue. Because I like them. They were impressed (Chris and Carl), that my friends were in bands. They suggested you learn the Peruvian 4 string guitar. I wasn´t sure how to answer that.
So, yeah very productive Day 1. I celebrated with a beer by myself. Really can´t wait to meet some mates, as drinking a beer is just not that fun on your lonesome. But, early days yet!
