On Januray 1st it was time to head home, after our prep chores to leave - mount the bikes, pick up the inside to close the slides, breakfast, unhook all the connections and bring the jacks up, we were ready to head out about 11AM - right by checkout time.
There was no need to rush out in the morning, we had about 934 miles to get home and we were going to split the drive to less than 500 miles per day. We drove as planned and pulled into the Walmart in Fayetteville, WV sometime around 10PM after we stopped for a nice dinner at Ruby Tuesday.
Today we headed out later than I planned - I did not wake up until almost 8AM. We quickly moved the kids to the back bed, closed the slide outs and headed out. About 10 AM we found a nice rest area to stop and make breasfast/brunch. Our drive was uneventful and we were in the Buffalo area shortly after 5.
I did not mention it before, but we had Shila with us on this trip. Shila is our 6 month old Brittany. She did great on the trip. She adjusted well to the RV on driving days - slept like the other kids most of the way. Once in a while she would stroll to the front to say hello to the driver and navigator, other times she just looked out the side window. She did not have any accidents on the trip, she patiently waited for us to let her out even when we were gone for long hours at the park. I would get up and let her out, then Kati would take her to the dog park before and after our excursions. During the driving days she would go out when we stopped for gas or meals. If there was a long stretch of driving we stopped on the rest areas to let her our for a break.
I am not sure what we are doing this year yet - but I do know that we will head out and explore more.
