On Monday and Tuesday we visited the Henry Ford. It is an indoor and outdoor history museum complex and a National Historic Landmark. The complex is composed among other things of a Museum, a Village - Greenfield, a Factory Tour and a theater which can be accessed by visitors with a ticket. They offer multi attraction discount packages also.
To get there the GPS takes you through an exit which leads to a road where you will drive by not knowing where to turn. We ended up making a right in Michigan Avenue and by luck fiding our way to the entrance off of 39. I recommend if you are driving there make your way to 39 and take exit 5. If heading on 39S you will make a right into the Gate on Village Rd. If you are heading north on 39, take exit 5, go through the first light and continue to the next light where you will make a left to cross the highway overpass bridge and through the gate.
On Monday we tood the Factory Tour where we saw the F150 being build along with a few films and oldies. After lunch we visited the museum.
After the visit we headed back towards the Wal-mart, found a Mexican restaurant where we had dinner. I do not remember the name of the town because as we were entering the town they were literally covering the town name sign with Booville and they had halloween decorations all over the town. We spend the night at the County Fairgrounds campground right behind Wal-mart. Since we were done earlier we wanted electricity for the night. We really need to get solar and an inverter in the RV..
On Tuesday we went back to the complex to visit Greenfield Village. Henry Ford took the time to move or replicate homes and buildings where innovation started in America. The Village contains a replica of Menlo Park - Edison and the Wright Brothers among others. We got to ride three Model T cars.
After we were done in the museum that afternoon, we headed home through Canada - a much shorter ride than if we came through the US. Our first two border crossings with the RV went smoothly.
Until the next adventure....
