Hi All
This weekend Kerry and I both worked yesterday, but we both had today off so we went for a drive to Northumbria. We had heard about a castle and gardens in a small town called Alnwick. So we headed off in Buster to explore them. Alnwick gardens is renouned for having a massive tree house and for having pristine gardens. It was really impressive, the castle is set next to the gardens. The gardens contains a huge water feature and several different types of gardens. One of the highlights was the poisonous garden which contains dangerous plants like poison ivy and many others best not touched.
Near the garden sits a tree house amongst the forest trees. The tree house is 2 storey and contains a restaurant and several other rooms. It also has 2 suspension bridge walkways. It has several trees growing through the middle of it which are all alive, well and growing.
After doing over the gardens we drove further north to Holy Island, an island which is accessible by car during low tide, but cut off during high tide. Holy Island is relatively small, only a few miles across but contains a small village and is quite a popular destination.
A drive home along the east coast saw us back home after a great day out.
We are off to Dublin next weekend which we are excited about.
Our flight details have been confirmed for the rest of our trip now, which we have included on the front page of our blog.
Anyway, thats about it for now, there is a few photos in the gallery of the gardens and castle.
