Hey everyone,
Just a quick message from Barcelona - I´m officially in love, Barcelona has to go down as one of my favourite cities. We got in ridiculously early on Wednesday morning and then found the hostel had stuffed our booking up and we weren´t expected until Thursday! D´oh. So the guy there found us a new hostel run by a nanna who speaks no English, but talks at us in Spanish until we get the jist of what she means. We´ve found a lot of people here do that - and it works! We´re not finding it too much of a problem understanding people.
We spent Wednesday at the Sagrada Familia, an amazing temple designed by Gaudi. I love the buildings by Gaudi here, I think i could stare at them all day and still see something I hadn´t noticed before. After that we decided to join in the traditional sietsa, but i think we took it a little too far. By the time we woke up we were right in time to dine at the fashionably late hour of 8:30!
On Thursday we did a 4 hour bike tour of Barcelona which was fantastic. Our guide took us to all the big sights, but we rode through all the back ways to get to them. Halfway through we stopped for a beer at a beachside cafe, then continued through parklands. In the afternoon we spent some time at the Park Guell (and got caught in a thunderstorm!) Today we´ve taken a train up to a mountainside monastery called Monsserat and done a bit of hiking up in the hills surrounding it which was stunning. Tomorrow we´re off to Madrid where I intend to drag Heath around some art galleries!
