Well.
Where to start? With the good news I guess. We now officially have a home! Moved into our room on Sunday afternoon, after indulging in our first English Sunday roast. I hate to say it, and apologies to everyone who's ever cooked me a roast, but the English certainly know what they're doing! After rolling out the door we lugged our rather heavier than when we left Australia bags up the very steep hill to our new abode. I'm going ot get so fit, it's like doing leg pumps at the gym walking up the hill. It's only temporary though - next week we'll be moving into the newly refurbished place next door. Both places are owned by the same landlord and as we needed a place asap he did us a favour and is allowing us to camp next door until the new place is ready. We'll be moving in with a couple of girls near our age, which is great (for me at least, where we are now has 3 middlish aged men living there.)
Other good news is that Heath started work today and managed to meet an Aussie chick who works there too and lives in Durham. She's given him a lift this morning so he toddled off all happy at not having to catch the bus! She seems like a lovely person so he's happy to have a friendly face there.
The bad news is that due to English restrictions, I may not be able to start work for awhile yet. I need an English police check - my Australian one isn't good enough apparently! Regardless of the fact i haven't been in the country long enough to commit any crimes. To get that i need proof of an English address, so now i'm waiting for the bank to send me a statement. Until that process is underway I can do nothing but cool my heels. I'm considering the joys of bar work. Very happy that at least one of us is working - apparently when I am cleared to start work it will be plentiful and quite well paid though.
Anyways, I might go and enjoy the pleasure of being a lady of luxury while I can. This time next week I will hopefully be frantically busy chasing after teenagers! Wish me luck
