Sunday 3rd August
I do feel like AJ at the moment me and Mike have no idea what day it is weather it is a weekend day or a week day, we drink when we feel like it not just because it is a Saturday night! Infact we rarely drink at all here! Me, James and Kev went to go up Cardrona Mountain but got a text from various people willing us not to go up as the visibility was pants. Its been like that all month the whole of July has been a white out you cant see a thing and quite scary especially going on the cat tracks where there is a big drop. The clouds in Wanaka are the lowest I've ever seen they are at the bottom of the mountain! Sometimes when your boarding your way above the clouds so it is actually quite nice and sunny. So with all our snowboarding gear we decided to go to QT and watch the new batman film, I wanted to go and get changed but the guys protested against it. Took us about an hour, we called for Hugo in QT but he wasnt in must have gone up Remarks mountain, so we had a mulled wine in a pub oustide and went in a few shops then headed to the Cinema. Very small cinema and cost $13 each. Me and Mike paid for Kevs ticket to help pay the petrol. We went to the British Lolly Shop where Shelly works but she was off that day was going to surprise her. We bought some british chocolate, I bought a ripple and some starbursts and Mike bought a lion bar, they were out of Walkers Crisps. The crisps over here are crap! They always are abroad I think. The Dark Night the new batman film was EXCELLENT. The joker defo made the film, batmans voice was a bit cheesy. We watched the film in all our layers and snowboard gear and boots which was quite sweaty and uncomfortable especially as the cinema was packed! I saw the principle and his wife in the queue and said hello etc. We headed back to Wanaka and some people infront of us had broken down so we stopped to help. It was pitch black by that time. When we saw them Kev laughed as it was only the 2 guys that he hitched from Christchurch to Wanaka with a week ago. And to add to the storey they had broken down then and he had to hitch again to Wanaka and leave them to sort out the car! So we gave them a jump start Meanwhile EVERY car that went passed stopped and asked if we needed help, now would that happen in the UK? Here there is a real sense of community where everyone helps each other and sticks together I love it! The guys broke down a further 3 times and we started getting a little aggitated as we just wanted to get back what should have taken us 1 hour took us 3 hours! We eventually told them to leave the car there and we would give them a ride back to Wanaka. We stopped at the Cardrona hotel on the way for a mulled wine which I love! Then went into Wanaka. We were all hungry by then and went for a curry at the Indian. $9 for a curry, $2.50 for naan bread and a whopping $3.50 for a drink so we shared a drink! I get butter chicken every time as it is the only indian I like. Very tired we then all went home.
