Wanaka days 7,8,9: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Working in the Vineyards. We had to meet at between 6.50 and 7.15 everyday wrapped up in lots and lots of layers. We got in the correct Van which had about 8 other people in it. First day was the worst ice cold and back breaking work, as the vineyards are all covered in white nets and they were really low so you had to crouch whilst you cut the grapes off. Your hands got really stickey and the buckets were really heavy. Met a few people. This is what alot of people do for the summer about 4 days a week. You have a break around 10ish, and lunch at 12.30 ish. Everyone brings pack lunch. I made us a really good lunch, cheese sandwhiches with crushed cheese crisps on mmmmmm! Yogurt (for mike obivously i dont like yogurt) Oranges, crisps, mars rocks choc bar, and ribena for a drink. For break time we had some oreo biscuits! We worked for about 7 - 9 hours each day, long long days. The second and third day, the vineyard owners were much nicer and the nets were very high so you could stand up fully, also they were quite wide so you could move around a bit. They gave us all a beer at the end as we did a 9 hour day! I think minimum wage here is about $13 a day but after tax you get about $10. The job agencey get $1 an hour per worker I think so they pay us $14 an hour. They were mostly purple grapes we were picking and we had to throw away the ones with green fungas growing inside them eugh! This experience has totally put me off grapes. The vineyard we were working on was sleeping dogs, so if you buy a bottle of NZ wine which is made by sleeping dogs we contributed to this! They also had cobwebs on them but it was so cold Mike assured me that there would be no spiders on them and I believed him. Met a few people doing this job over 3 days. Met a guy from Leeds called Gus which we are going out with tonight. I went to the supermarket also to buy some savlon as I chopped my finger cutting those bloody grapes!8th May: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDAD! Hope your having a FABULOUS time in Las Vegas Love you lots and lots, I located your hotel and spoke to the receptionist and sent you a birthday card! I hope it arrived in time and you have received it! Speak to you soon Love Hayley x x x x x xWanaka day 10: 9th May Sooooooo glad we werent picking grapes today! So mind numbingly boring! Plus we had a little lie in, not that we dont still wake up really early every morning still! We got up had our Cheerios and a cup of tea and Mike went and washed our clothes and coats as they were all icky from the grapes. I tried to start going out with no makeup on, I did it for a few days but I disgusted myself when I looked in the mirror, I feel much much much happier with my face on, so I have decided to sack that off altogether and continue with the foundation, blusher, eye liner, brow pencil, mascara, highlighter and all the rest! I wrote us another list to do today.1) Go to Recylcle Centre to look for 2 mountain bikes: We went there and it was just like a big jumble sale crossed with a charity shop, it was sheds load of stuff that people dont want. The person serving had the most awful outfit on, I dont know if it was supposed to be fancy dress or what? She was dressed like Maria out of the Sound of Music with the hat on and everything! sooooooo wanted to give her a makeover. We saw a couple of bikes but Mike said they werent very good so we swiftly left.2) Go sort a Gym Membership: Gus who we met yesterday had got a membership and Mike wanted to go, so we had a look for the street which is right opposite our house but couldnt find the Gym? Its on an industrial estate, so we will ask him tonight when we see him and go tomorrow.3) Go on line and fill in application form for Amigos Cafe: Did this, went to the local internet Cafe Dub Dub Dub, and filled it in. Sent a few emails checked my facebook bla bla bla.4) Go Cinema at 3.00 to watch: Dan in Real Life: Crazy cinema normal comfy couches to sit on everywhere instead of cinema seats, you can even sit in a Morris Minnor to watch the flick! We bought some home made icecream for the film and at half time we bought some freshly baked cookies.5) Call Plumber Job: We saw this in the Wanaka Sun, which the woman next door gave us this morning. Mike rang them and they said they will call him back if they are intersted so fingers crossed.6) Get credit: Done, bought $20.7) Go Red Rock: We went there to ask about a job and put our new mob number on the C.V. This looks like a good place. DJ Mox is on there tonight a local mixed D.J who plays hip hop, funky house and drum and base. All the bars over here have log fires, pool tables and like a wooden interier which is really nice.Just finished watching Wheel of Fortune which is on every day at about 5.30! Watchin alot of news as we only have 3 channels! Drinking alot of brews, and eating alot of mushrooms as I hav Bue just found out that I like them and am getting a bit obsessed! Going to hop in the shower now, it runs out here (as I found out the other day) if you stay in it too long! Poor Mike ad to have a cold shower yesterday! Ooooooh also Mike bought a bright aluminous tangerine hat today and a snowboarding NZ magazine which he is reading now. Spent quite a bit today eeeeek! The 3 days we were working we didnt spend anything, need to keep on top of it I think. I think its Mothers Day today as it is all over the T.V. Also there is loads of info-mertials on here which I am getting totally sucked into. So far I have wrote on my list of things I wants is SHEER COVER FOUNDATION and RECLAIM skin care products! Thats if for now folks!
