Monday - Wednesday 28th May: Okay as long as i'm working at the college 8.00 - 5.00 Monday to Friday I have nothing to say, apart from kids asking me for sanitary towls and plasters for their cut fingers. There was a boy today who ran into a pole and was slightly concussed and had to go home. Anyway the point i'm making is i'm basically doing EXACTLY the same as i did in england, Same ritual I thought I was gettiing away with! Work - dinner - shower - tv-bed then at the weekend getting totally pi***d. Not going out in the week, even though it was the pool comp tonight, I couldnt be arsed rushing to get there in time. I'm not hating it though as it is different people (not that there is anything wrong with the people in the UK!) but different conversations, different climate, area, home etc? So whilst i'm working I'm not going to report everyday as you pretty much get the jist, same as home, work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep. Although I will share my views on working here, It is very VERY strange not to have such a stressful job, not to have deadlines, and not to rush anything, taking your time etc? I find it very odd not striving to be at the top as i'm only there for 6 weeks. I keep wanting to chip in "i'll do it" but then taking a seat back and thinking that there is no point taking on extra work as I leave in 6 weeks and wont get paid anymore, i might as well just plod along. Plodding along does not come naturally to me and I did find myself offering to look intot the new Konica Minalta bizup something or other that they are thinking of getting. Damn! why did I offer to do that? Anyway moving away from work we have moved into Rimu Lane. We had to move in 1 day to live with the owners so they could show us the solar pannel heating, re-cycling, log fire etc. We did a "Big Shop" spent $100 on food to last us. Me and mike have giggled over the fact that we have never eaten so many mushrooms before in our life! We bought the little old lady from the shed house thing we were living in some flowers and she is going to start a book for people who rent the cottage and we will be the first people to sign it! The day of the move Mike picked me up from work at lunch time, (I have to take the early lunch of 11.30 - 12.30) and we went to Finchy's as it is lunch for $10 which is the cheapest in Wanaka at the moment and it is really top notch food. Gorgeous next to a log fire. They have log fires everywhere here! Mike picked me up after work and he had moved all of our stuff for us into Rimu, the owners went out for a bit and by the time they went we were in bed. Some things that I have noticed that are different in NZ are:The shopping trolly's: The back wheels dont turn, they only roll forward There is no rush here, no one is impatientThe kids have respect for their elders and take with dignity, no questions asked even if it is a bit harshMost people eat healthy and look after the enviromentThe kids at the school do LOADS of sport, climbing, walking, ski ing, etcThey call long treks up mountains Tramping and call them TrampsMost people only have 3 channels on T.V (like us)The police are really efficient and dont turn a blind eye to anything, they are on top of everything.I have not really seen any fat people here? Most are healthy and fit.You have to give way to the right when driving? Crazy rule that may kill us!Windscreen wipers, both are controlled from the right, up for right and down for left. There is not many gas mains been fitted, so everything run of solar power.Everyone here only buys one mountain pass Treble Cone or Cardrona (oooops we bought both!)Most people have Log Fires as a free - ish source of heat......okay thats it for now folkes if I think of anymore I shall add to the list! .... from the Tramps
