This morning we met in the lobby around 8 o'clock for our trip to the Senate building. This tour was more formal than the others we had taken. The guys were required to wear ties and jackets, not an easy feat in the ninety-degree weather, especially when we were packed in the bus on the way there.
The senate is a beautiful building. We were able to see where the senators work every day and the actual chamber was a lot like the House of Representatives in Washington DC. At the end of the tour, our professors took us over to the Pantheon, which was only about a block away. Willa and I walked around for a few minutes and then decided to break away from the tour and take the train back to Cornelia, where our hotel is.
We got something to eat from the restaurant I went to the night before. I had farfalle with olive oil and chili pepper. It was spicy, but it was the best meal I have had so far! After lunch, we went back to the hotel and I studied for my Italian test at 4:30, which I am almost certain I failed. She tried to point out the mistakes, but I didn't even know how to fix them. Oh well, I wasn't the only one in my class who struggled. Hopefully this won't affect my GPA too much.
I was late to my next class because the test took me so long to finish and then at dinner, we had another poorly arranged sign-up for a side trip, so I started to get really frustrated. After dinner, we went out for a walk and stopped to get gelato (today's flavours were nutella and baileys), which helped to cheer me up a bit.
I called home when I got back to the hotel and talked to my mom for a while. It was good to hear from her and by the time I went to bed, my spirits were much improved.
