This morning I slept through breakfast and I almost missed my first class because I forgot to turn on my alarm. I woke up about five minutes before I had to be there, but I made it on time, if a little disheveled. The other students from my Italian class were there today, so we got to talk to them a little and one of them is in my art history class too. They both seem really nice.
After class, I talked to my mom on Skype and took a shower, so I missed lunch. I went downstairs to see who was around and got a newspaper to read for my Italian class. One of the professors has her two kids here with her, so I talked to them while she was working with a student. We ended up playing war with the deck of cards that I brought and I may babysit on occasions when I am around the hotel and their mom has to go to a meeting. They were a lot of fun.
We took a trip to the bookstore when Veronica had to get a dictionary and Ali bought a phone to use to call some of her family here. And then we, of course, stopped for gelato. Ferrero Rocher and Vanilla today. Mmmmm!
I stayed in for the evening to do some homework, but a lot of people went out to celebrate the fourth of July. Believe it or not, they actually have a lot of Independence Day parties here. Ali and I sat in the open-air cafe to study and we had Irish coffee (definitely not for a non-coffee drinker) and fruit with gelato (so delicious). It was a gorgeous night and sitting out there was so relaxing. Our waiter was really funny and we joked around with him a lot. One of the girls from my Italian class sat with us a little while later, so we all talked for a bit and then some of the professors joined us. They are really great people. Not only do they know a ton of information about Italy and everything else, but they are also really fun to talk to.
At one o'clock I called home and talked to some of my aunts, uncles and cousins who were at the fourth of July party. It was great to hear from everyone! Unfortunately, I still have quite a bit to do before I go to sleep, but I'll be sure to set my alarm tonight.
