After leaving Bramwell Station we decided to brave part of the notorious Old Telegraph Track, as we'd heard about some nice waterfalls, and we were dying for a swim. Yes, Lea had already checked that they were croc-free.
The rattle was getting worse, and so was the road. By the time we got to camp, a warning light had also come on in the Navvy indicating that there was something unspecific wrong, and that although we could still drive it, we should take it to the nearest Nissan dealer. Which was 800km away. Great.
Nerves were frayed even more by having to do a rather deep creek crossing in order to get to the campsite, probably our deepest one yet. We made it alive though, and the waters of Twin Falls were a good antidote for our stress.
The next morning we were up early, after deciding to make a dash for Seisia, right up the tip of Cape York, where we knew there was a mechanic. The Navvy held up well and we made it to Seisia with no problems. Passed Kerrie and Adam on the road, they had finished their Cape trek and were heading back down south. We were sad to have missed them, but they gave us some good tips about where to stay and what to see.
Pulled up in the caravan park, its like a tropical island up here. We're staying right on the beachfront, and we have a little hut with bench and a sink, so we've made ourselves at home. Only shame is, we can't swim at the beach, for you guessed it, there's crocs!
We found out what the rattle was - the roof rails had detached and had been banging onto the roof. We were lucky not to lose our roof basket and spare tyre. Looks like we've got a date with the mechanic up here, one way or another.
