After leaving Rockhampton (aka Midgie Town), and Lea stocking up on anti-itch creams, we spent the night at a little council-run campsite in Ball Bay. It was quite an odd set up, camped among people's houses. We met an interesting character, who had traded his house and farm in Victoria for a caravan and a Jeep, and was now living the nomad life with his 83 year old invalid mother for company.
Thursday morning saw us hitting the road again, next stop Airlie Beach to visit Craig, Janice and the girls.
Gotta tell you, its pretty rough here, with the horizon pool overlooking Airlie Harbour, and us staying in the granny flat - a freestanding building with its own deck, bathroom and kitchenette. And not to mention the generous hospitality of Craig and Janice...
Craig is taking us sailing today - we're tagging along on the Dent to Dunk rally, and stopping overnight on the boat up at Gloucester. Better go and get ready!
