Sunday began with an early morning start to Edinburgh. Only 9 of us opted to go this time around, and yes, it is still raining. First thing when we got to Edinburgh we all walked up to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. We started in the first building whose current main exhibit is dedicated to the works of Edvard Munch (The Scream). We paroosed a bit and then walked across the street to building number 2. While in building #2 we saw a pretty amazing sculpture by Ron Mueck named "A Girl", which is a giant newborn baby made out of mostly wood, fiber-glass and silicone that looks very very real. I also got to take a look at Max Beckmann's portfolio of lithos, a Kirchner litho, a Pechstein woodcut, Klimt, and 4 lithos, 4 woodcuts, 4 dry point prints by Kandinsky. After oogling art for a couple of hours we parted ways, and Alison and I head to the palace of Holyrood House. We took a tour of the second level which has some interesting history, and intricate plaster ceilings. Next we walked out to the Holyrood Abbey ruins, which are connected, and then through the garden. Then garden was not anything too special, but then again it was raining so maybe I missed something, or have just been spoiled with having beautiful gardens at home in Minnesota. After leaving Holyrood Allison and I revisited the old children's bookstore that we had peeked in a few days before. We spent a while in there pouring over the old books, and eventually we were both able to find a book that we liked that was also not crazy expensive. We took our new treasures to a nearby cafe to warm up/ dry off with some tea and a slice of
Profiterole cake. We let a good amount of time pass before forcing ourselves back out into the rain. We walked around the shopping center for a bit and then it was time for dinner. On out previous visit we walked down a less populated street with a bunch of restaurants, so we went back there and shared chicken fajitas at Smokehouse- which were some of the best I have ever had because the sauce the fajitas were in was so dang good. Then it was time meet back up with the group at the van to drive back to Arbroath. Shortly after we got back Don, Naomi, Ashley, Grace and I went to West Port for some long awaited karaoke. Ashley and I serenaded Don for Father's Day as well as everyone else in the pub (probably 7 other people) with Sweet Caroline, by Neil Diamond. After a while more people started showing up and Ashley and I sang Don't Stop Believing, by Journey, and We Are Young, by Fun -but that one we sang with everyone in the pub on stage. We briefly considered going to DeVito's because it had been so intriguing since we've been here, but decided against it and walked back to Hospitalfield for a nice sleep in preparation for our day off.

Dad Rachel The food, adventures and sights are neverending. Glad to see that you have the names of your future children planned out, one more thing you can cross off of the list of things to do. I can't help but think that food will be so boring when you get back, and you will be looking for new adventures in the flatlands of Minnesota. Looking forward to your return and to hear of all your adventures first hand.
