We now have 7 schools for the 5 Cent Project! My goal was for Empilweni to have at least 5 by the time I leave, so I am really happy! Going to visit schools last Thursday was probably the highlight of my week in regards to my internship.
Today I didn't work. Last night we all got a message from VAC saying that there was a huge protest/riot scheduled for today and our safety would be at risk. The fact that they didn't allow us to go into work shows me how bad it was. There have been times when I was absolutely terrified to go into work but still had to, which is why I know it has to be REALLY bad for us to stay home. We already got the all clear for tomorrow. There aren't any protests/riots planned. It will be interesting to see the aftermath of what happened today. I plan to take my camera tomorrow and hopefully will be able to take some pictures to share with you all.
I am not quite sure what is planned this week for me to work on. I have Friday off, and since I didn't work today it is going to be a short week. I will probably have another meeting with my supervisor and the other volunteer involved in the givengain fundraising campaign and I might go visit some more schools about the 5 cent project.
Later this week I will post another update about what happen with the protests and about what is going on at work! I only have 10 days left of work… I can't believe it!
