This morning I got up around 8. I went to bed at about 3am last night but my brother Travis and I agreed to Skype at 8am my time, so I had to wake up! It was great to see him and catch up with him. To my surprise, I actually miss him quite a bit! After that, everyone else in the house was pretty much up. We all got ready and went to the Old Biscuit Mill. The Old Biscuit Mill is a big open air market. The food is absolutely amazing! I posted a few pictures, so take a look. I have been twice now, and I feel like I need to go at least 20 more times to actually be able to try all of the food! Most of the food stands have samples, so after walking around for a couple hours and trying everything, we headed back to the house. We had already planned to hike Table Mountain today, so we wanted some down time before we began that adventure!
Our house has a specific taxis driver that we always call. We call him Pretty Face. This is because he has the most pretty face! Haha. He is also so nice and always gives us great deals. Pretty Face picked us up a little after two to take us to Table Mountain. On our way up the hill his car broke down! Another taxis driver took us up the rest of the way. We finally made it and found our friends we were meeting up with. We started the hike around 3. Hiking Table Mountain was one of the things I was most excited about when coming to Cape Town. It is such an amazing mountain and I never get used to seeing it out my bedroom window every day. I absolutely had to see it from the top!
The hike itself was a lot harder than we all expected. It was basically like hiking up huge stairs for two and a half hours. After we finally made it to the top, I felt so accomplished! And it was so stunning! Just as I said about Lions Head, the pictures do not capture the true beauty of the views! We timed the hike perfectly. After hanging out on top for a bit, the sun was setting as we were walking down. It was breathtaking. It only took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get down.
After that tiring journey we were all starving. We decided that we deserved a great meal. We went to Fat Cactus, a delicious Mexican restaurant in downtown Cape Town. I had chicken fajitas and we got a margarita pitcher. It was so delicious! It was a much needed rewarded after a very tiring day. After that we went home and watched a movie. I am finally able to catch up on some sleep!
