Going into this experience, I was afraid that I might have a difficult time adjusting. So far that has not been the case. The VAC (Volunteer Adventure Corps) staff does a great job of creating a supportive family and teaching us the ropes. Of course at times I have missed home, but I find that only happens when I have down time, which is very seldom. As I am writing this, I am laying in bed trying to sleep. It is about 1:15am here and I have to get up at 6am. The wind is blowing so hard outside and it sounds like it is raining cats and dogs! The houses here are built for warm weather, since it is hot here for the majority of the year. This time of year however is very cold and rainy. My bedroom window does not shut all the way and the walls are quite thin. So I guess for me, this has been the hardest adjustment. I am used to sleeping in a quiet basement, in a big bed, and with lots of blankets. But by no means am I complaining! I feel so thankful to be here and I can't wait to find out what the next three months hold.
