The last week has been mad, haven't had the chance to even do this blog. Its difficult because we speak to the parents most days & so are alble to update them quite often.
The things we have been up to this week:
Adam - working long days 7 - 5pm 4 days this week but has earnt alot of cash :)
Kershia - worked at Kebab Wednesday & Kathmandu thursday, friday (my first 2 shifts - finally)
Monday was bank hol here so me & Adam had the day off together, spent it at DFO buying work supplies for kershy - black crop leggings are an essential item here! they go with all uniforms So i now have 5 pairs! also got some converse type shoe for Kathmandu as i need comfy enclosed footwear. never thought i would come to Oz & not be alowed to wear flip flops for work :(- or thongs as they call them here!!
Adam worked a long day Tuesday & i had done alot of stuff- pottering around lol. Had to go bank & get a super for us both - basically a pension that you have to have in Oz, your employer pays into it, if they don't pay into it they are breaking the law. Also found out that we get all of our Super & tax money back when we leave oz @ the end of the tax year in June 2014 :) Yippeee So its kind of like we are saving a percentage of our money each month by paying tax.
I also had to go to Kathmandu and fill out heaps of forms to start on Thursday - got my uniform etc.
So we were lazy and had a Dominos pizza night :p its mega cheap deals on Mon & Tuesday we got 2 regular pizzas for £6.50 What a bargin.
It was well good & then we went to cinema to see fast and furious, really enjoyed ourselves.
Plans for the rest of the week
Adam has Thursday off & i am working 10 - 2 so thats not bad.
Then we are going to have a gym afternoon i think. as we haven't been since weekend.
I have had lots of people contact me in the last couple of days about other jobs.
Tuesday night i went for an interview for a cleaning dishes & laying tables job. - casual when they need you earliest star 6pm latest finish 10pm $15 cash ph. (which is better then the kebab shop & nearer so i will wait until i have a trial there)
Tonight i had a call from the Mantra hotel, they have a restuarant and would like a hostess outside to try and get people inside as it is on the 2nd floor of hotel. I have a trial there tomorrow evening @ 5.30pm ( don't think its really my thing. i applied for a reception job there but they rung me to do this instead. Still 50/50 as wether to go or not. Prob will see how i feel when i get home from Kathmandu. I might just do it for the fun of it. Even if it just helps get me more confident approching people on the streets of Cairns! You never know i could be fab being a restuarant hostess.
On the same night i got an email from Ochre another posh resturant, they wanted me to pop in today so they could interview me. Basically 2-3 times in a month they have big catering events on and would need extra help during this period. Again its casual & she will contact me when i have my first shift in a couple of weeks.
Sounds like i have got a lot of jobs on the go but i have only got commitment to Kathmandu all these other ones are casual which means they contact me & i tell them if i can work.
If all goes well and i have at least 15 hours from Kathmandu then i will quit the kebab shop so i can do the casual jobs in the city & because some of them are in the evening i can do 1 days work in a whole day rather than going in to work everyday for 4 hours.
Its been a fab week for both of us, we are loving it here & having the most amazing time ever, when you live somewhere as beauiful as this its like you are on holiday permanently.
