madagascar 10-11
Some update-type information:
- Pal is prounced like this but is French so is spelled Pale which in French means, predictably, 'pale'. He is so known because he is very light skinned. He did tell me 3 first names by which he is known including Pale all of which I have forgotten but his surname is Andrianahaga-Mahery. He is very nice and very bright.
- Yesterday's noise was a stun grenade throw by troops about 15 yards from my door. They wanted to disperse a gathering crowd and, not surprisingly were very successful. The melee outside the court near MFA was to do with a former politician but not one of the mutineers.
- Today at MOY we decided to abandon the cabinet class because I whinged that it was impossible to prepare properly when I didn't know whether there were going to be nine of them or none and how many of those were also there the session before. So now I will continue with the 1-2-1s but Noreo=Hiang and Hanta will start again next week with 4 third year students from the university who I start teaching tomorrow at 9.30. Rajo introduce me to them this morning before my 1-2-1. They are studying French but are interested in Communications (no idea whether that is an element of their course, personal interest or career plan). I also have no idea how they heard about me. Rajo was unusually reticent/vague when I asked him. I shall ask them tomorrow.
- Andasibe is off for a while but I am going to Carrion, a training institute attached to MOY, with Rajo on Thursday. Almost certainly this is not the correct spelling but I can't bear to spell it like the films or you will just take the mick.
