Brian did very well this morning. He and a friend found me a huge apartment with 4 rooms, kitchen and filthy bathroom but (1) it is far, far too big and (2) it was furnished with 2 large wardrobes but nothing else. No bed/mattress/table/chairs/cooker/fridge all of which I would have to buy. They told me we could buy it all cheap at the market tomorrow but it is does sound like a sensible investment even though, as the owner suggested, my whole family could stay there whenever they want to come. I declined. Brian and friend then had a rethink and phoned somebody and I was off to see another one-room apartment. Again Kitchen of sorts and bathroom of sorts and even a big concrete basin with sloping sides to do my laundry were available but not a single stick of furniture. I did promise the guy at the studio meuble that I would give him an answer today but I think I will as the minister if he can help tomorrow before I make a decision. I gave Brian and his friend 5000 Ariary about £1.80 between them for their help so thay are going to meet me outside the ministry at 2 to show me what I would have to spend to buy new furniture. I can't see it being cheap enough but there is an appeal to having stuff that no-one has ever used before especially if you are coming out. The owner did say that that he would let me off half the first months rent if I bought the stuff and left it there when I leave. They rent there would be 500,000 so about £180 per month which is the best offer by far and it is ,10 mins walk away from the ministry where I may be working. I think the studio is still favourite and I do want to be out of Brajas by Wed. at the latest as that is the start of the new month so if the minister has no offer I think I will go down there.
Mr Lee, Mr Ellis and Mr Joyce: a serious issue. I did ask you to keep an eye on Bristol RFC for me and you let them loseat home. Come on boys get your act together……….and I hope you neither of you have been investing in Pakistani no-balls.

Tricia Greetings from London. Had to put the heating on tonight cos it's a bit chilly. Hope you get the apartment sorted soon, sounds amazingly cheap where you are! Borneo was great, saw all the wild and endangered animals that we hoped to see. It's a poor country but with generous and smiley people. Very few tourists around, we were quite a novelty and were made a fuss of by the locals. Victoria came home with us and is back to uni in a couple of weeks. Now I've conquered Asia, where next?? We'll see. Watch out for those mozzies, we used the locals' repelent which seemed to work best. x I'll expect you at Christmas then!!!!
