I think I have explained previously that my teaching room at the MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) is quite luxurious with padded gilded carved chairs etc so it wasn't unreasonable to think that it might have air conditioning. It certainly has a large unit that looks like air conditioning so it wasn't unreasonable to think that the large metal box on the floor near it with a large green switch and a large red switch might be its control unit. So I pressed the green button,
It was in fact a fire/intruder/coup d'etat alarm which rang throughout every inch of the 3 storey building with a footprint the size of four football pitches. It took me one ring to hear it, a second ring to appreciate just how loud it really was, a third ring to figure that I had caused it and a fourth ring to press the red button which thankfully did turn it off. I was relieved but didn't rest to enjoy my escape, I ran to my desk and became immediately so totally engrossed in reading my register that I would not even have heard an alarm sounding if anyone came to enquire.
Fortunately no-one did. Think I got away with it.

Robert Lee Good to know that your intake of local beer hasn't slowed down your reflexes
Jenny Garner I am pleased to read your adventure is going well . Sounds like you are having a wonderful and very interesting experience.Just hope the weather improves soon! Thanks for this Jenny, Fortunately it's stopped raining but I don't thinl I've seen the last of it by any means. Apparently it always rains on Christmas Day. What's your handicap down to?
