I had a little bit of excitement today. I was expecting to teach 3 groups from 2 this afternoon but got a phone call from Ny Andry about 12.45 saying to stay away because they were expecting trouble in town and were shutting the ministry. So I did the sensible thing and opened a bottle of beer to have with my ham sandwich for lunch. I thought what I should do and decided that I would walk in to the ministry about 3 pm as it was obvious I would see any problem long before I got there but everything was just the same as always. Possibly slightly less traffic. The ministry was open but only Rajo and Tahin were around. I asked Rajo what was going on and he said "Everything is calm now."
"Was there a problem?"
"This morning there was a big meeting and it was dangerous."
"A political meeting?"
"Yes."
"But everything is ok now? I will see my class tomorrow?"
"Yes, I will see you in the morning."
End of story. I will find out what happened tomorrow.
Political tension is very high at the moment as there is a referendum on the new constitution which is a straight yes or no to a 150 page document. If it is TSIA (no) I have no idea what will happen. I think the actual date is 23rd November. Watch this space.
