Day 8 Slaidburn to Carlisle
Sunday
It's lunchtime and I'm in a cute little cafe in Sedburgh. It's the Yorkshire Dales and it's very beautiful.
This morning I could barely eat. Yesterday took a lot more out of me than I realised and I could barely eat any breakfast this morning. The location of the hostels seems to have been arranged by someone with a sense of humour. So far almost all have been at the bottom of a hill or top of a hill and almost all require you to cycle up a ghastly mountain or such-like straight after you've set off. YHA have all been good quality so far. Clean, fresh linen and on two occasions run by volunteers for a week at a time, last nights was and so was Clun.
30 miles down. Another 45 odd to go but not so hilly as this morning so should be ok. Trying to take it easy and not put too much strain on my body so I can actually get to the end!
Tom's back tonight in Carlisle so it'll be good to have some company and catch up. Fingers crossed for his knees and legs on the rest of the ride.
No rain yet. Am praying it stays away!
