Day 11 - Wednesday
Stirling to Glen Coe. 80 miles
Leaving Stirling after two days of rest was an emotional roller-coaster. I now understand just a tiny bit of how Marcus Trescothick felt. When it goes wrong and you realise you're fallible, when you run out of puff and question your own motivation, getting back out there and giving it your all is seriously hard. It's much harder psychologically than physically. Leaving the safety and warmth of a hostel, packing all your possessions into a couple of tiny panniers and putting yourself at the mercy of the elements, the road, the weather and your own stamina.
I covered 80 miles yesterday on some of the prettiest roads in the UK. It is my favourite ride. The Scottish Highlands did me proud. There were hills, snatches of sunshine and some gorgeous views. But most of all, my legs worked fine and my energy didn't run out. I made it! Coming down Glen Coe, off the higher ground and into the valley was magical. You can see in Day 11's photos, the gorgeous scenery.
So. On to Loch Ness. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain. Here goes!
