WOWOWOWOWOWOW ive been really terrible at posting… Sorry guys!
Well I have to say that things are really picking up here! Im quite enjoying working at FIELDS, it can be frustrating at times, but overall it's a pretty great place to work. Everyone is pretty close to my age (I'm the youngest I think) and really nice. I go to lunch almost every day with two girls Nancy and Stellar (yea her name is StellaR!) they try out almost every restaurant around the office so they know which ones are good or not. Haha But its really nice because working at FIELDS really forces me to speak in Chinese which Im really happy about.
So at work Ive just been writing article I just wrote one about China National Day which is on Oct 1st. which is pretty much China's July 4th. Ive also randomly been assigned to find pictures of these new meats we just got in because the pictures our photographer took weren't good enough. So I have to go online and find nice pictures of pretty much every kind of steak. And I feel like it's a lot harder than you think it would be.
I've also made friends with a couple other people in the office, a guy named Rax and the Spanish girl Gloria. Rax is pretty funny I feel like he is probably the only other person besides Gloria who gets my sarcastic humor. Sarcasm is not a very widely known concept in China which makes my sense of humor preetttyy obsolete…. Ahaha I have to always remind my coworkers that Im just kidding when I say a lot of stuff. Nothing offensive of course (don't worry mama) just when they ask me to like hold their bags for a second and I say no, stuff like that.
Anyways, this week is a SUPER long work week for me, its Thursday, but its really my Tuesday. I have to work all 7 days this week, but then I get the entire first week of Oct off for the holiday. Its kinda weird the way China does it. So pretty much everyone in China has to work this Saturday, but working this Saturday makes it so we can skip a day next week, that way we get an entire week long break! So its kind of cool I guess… haha Today I had to work late because we had an event after work and Sunday I have to work another event somewhere in Shanghai. Tonight the event was a fancy BBQ event so we had to dress up and handful of people from the office went to smooze the 40ish of customers and suppliers that went. It was a little bit awkward because my boss wanted us to walk around and socialize with the customers, but everyone was sitting at their own tables talking to their friends, and its also very difficult to start conversations like that with most Chinese people. So me and Nancy walked around to a couple tables but gave up after the awkwardness got to be too much. We did get to eat from the buffet though which was nice because my company has pretty good food. One thing that was pretty funny to me was that we had a bunch of wines for tasting and they also invited our organic milk vendor to do samples, so right next to the wines were organic milk and yogurt, two things that do not go very well together. But the milk and yogurt were SO GOOD. In China all the milk tastes really processed probably because it is super processed. Most milk you buy is the kind that you don't have to refrigerate until you open it, so this organic stuff was definitely a tasty change.
Anyways, Im super tired so Im going to head off to bed. Hope this was entertaining! Miss you all! <3 <3 <3
